Making Your Community College your School of Choice

When parents are helping their child decide how to further their education, there are several different options. Since the costs of higher education are always rising, you want to make sure that they are ready for it and what direction they want to go. Community college is an affordable solution.

One reason why it may be a good idea for your child to attend community college is that it would be easier for them to transition to adulthood. They are typically a little smaller with smaller class sizes making it easier to approach the professors to ask questions about the syllabus. They provide a great social atmosphere for these students who are not quite ready for the university pace.

Another reason for your child to attend community college first is that he could save a large chunk of money. The reduced rate will allow them to take most of the core classes before they needs to move forward in their career path. He can always transfer after he has taken those basic classes.

Living at home is another perk of attending community college. The cost of room and board, or living in an apartment off campus, can really add up. Living in a dorm away from home is a great experience, but is not necessary right after high school. Living on campus also means that you need to feed yourself, so that is more money as well, when you could eat at home. You can still enjoy dorm life by visiting your friends at their university.

Next, when you put off attending university, you are able to take more time to think about what you want to do for your career. Even though your child may declare what he wants to do while in high school, that may change once he gets into the learning process. Attending the local junior college is a great way to get a feel for the future and make changes before they get into their career field and hate it.

Finally, attending community college first will help your child gain the confidence he needs for a four year university before he gets there. This environment can make it easier to study, making it possible for him to learn good study habits and build up a high GPA before he moves on to his university of choice. Changes do occur naturally, and you do not need to waste your money while doing it. A community college can give him the head start he needs.

I Ship Groceries To My Daughter In College

As a mother, I have always dreaded the day I have to send my kids off to college. This year I said goodbye to my first child as my oldest daughter left for school. It kills me that she had to choose an out of state university to fill her educational needs. It kills me even more that I wont physically be there to nurture her through this experience.

I have, however, found my niche to make myself visible in her everyday life. I have chosen to delivery her groceries biweekly right to her house. This takes so much stress off of me just knowing that she has food in the fridge and is eating right. Of course I am sending quality food and healthy food. There are nation wide grocery delivery businesses that enable me to order from our home state (Texas) and deliver to her apartment in New York. All I do is place the order online and they call my daughter to set up an ideal delivery time for her.

Another great feature about the delivery system is they offer specials monthly with different deals. Last month they had two for one deals. Every time I want to resend my order and just have to call. I became a member so all my order information is saved and I dont have to go through the hassle of finding the products again and putting them in my cart. Sometimes Ill go in and switch up the order but I tend to send her the same core group of groceries. They have an entire organic section filled with healthy foods.

Anyway, Im glad I can help my daughter while she is off to college. I just hate knowing that one day all of my kids will be grown up and out of the house!
